Updated all-time stats

As we prepare for Season 10 of the OTBL, let's look back at some of the milestones and records from the past season (1909)….

-Nap Lajoie hit only one home run this season, but it was enough to tie him with Charlie "Piano Legs" Hickman for the all-time career lead for home runs (62).  The next homer Nap "Normal Legs" Lajoie hits will make him the undisputed all-time leader.

-Big Ed Walsh took over the all-time ERA title with a 2.36 ERA over six seasons

-Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown notched his 100th win this season

This season feels like a changing of the guard as Ty Cobb is starting to usurp Honus Wagner as the premier batsman of the league.  The Dutchman is far from done, but the Georgia Peach is just getting started on his reign of terror.  Strat's MVP voting does seem tilted towards pitchers, so I thought it would be interesting to see who was the highest rated position player each season.

List of Most Valuable Position Players

1901  Jimmy Sheckard (NYG)
1902  Honus Wagner (BOA)
1903  Honus Wagner (BOA)
1904  Nap Lajoie (NYG)
1905  Honus Wagner (BOA)
1906  Honus Wagner (BOA)
1907  Honus Wagner (BOA)
1908  Honus Wagner (BOA)
1909  Ty Cobb (DEA)

Here are the new career leaders in several key categories….

Looking forward to another fun and interesting season, good luck to all for the 1910 season!
