Rube Waddell creates the 2000 Strikeout Club! And other highlights from our OTBL All-Time Stats!

Rube Waddell (NYG) didn't have his best season in 1908, but he did become the ONLY hurler to rack up 2000 strikeouts in the OTBL!  Call it the 2K K Club ( or not, might need to have the marketing folks work on that one).  Rube is exactly 300 K's above the next highest strikeout total (Christy Mathewson).

Rube Waddell is our King of K's

A new leader emerged in all-time career ERA - meet Boston's young star Nap Rucker!  The second-year pitcher, has exceeded the minimum requirements for a career record and now holds the mark at 2.39, just edging our Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown at 2.41.  Rucker is a eye-popping 33-16, and has not allowed even one home run through 488 innings!!

Red Sox sophomore pitcher Nap Rucker off to quite a start in the OTBL!

We have several new members of the 1000 Hit Club this season.  Longtime St. Louis teammates Harry Davis and Fred Clarke, along with Detroit's Bobby Wallace all went over 1000 career hits this season.

Cy Young (PIN) and Iron Joe McGinnity (BOA) are poised to reach 100 career wins next season, with 94 and 91 wins, respectively.  Doc White (BKN) and Bob Ewing (BOA) should also top the Century mark in wins next year.

St. Louis' pitching staff in 1908 set a new all-time league record with a team ERA of 2.21.  The Detroit Tigers of 1908 were right on their heels, putting up a team ERA of 2.42, good for second best of all time!

Nap Lajoie (NYG) still leads in all-time career average (.335), but young Ty Cobb (DET) has now clawed his way up to 4th overall (.314).  Look for the Georgia Peach to continue to climb the hitting charts like George M. Cohan does on the music charts of this era ("Yankee Doodle Dandy", "Give my Regards to Broadway", among others)!

Honus Wagner (BOA) continues to produce at the highest levels, yet seems to almost always come up a bit short in the MVP voting.  I think Strat-O-Matic overvalues pitchers when it comes to the MVP voting, so I looked up the Flying Dutchman's vote totals, and have found that 1908 was his FOURTH straight season as the highest ranking batter in the MVP voting. and SIXTH overall!   Honus has only one MVP to his name in our league, but continues to lead the league in most career categories.

The Amazing Honus Wagner continues to dominate
