1908 Season Recap

St. Louis and Detroit were the top two teams almost the entire season (94 and 92 wins, respectively), and met in the World Series.  Christy Mathewson dominated in the Series, and Doc Gessler and George McBride provided some fireworks on offense to propel the Cardinals to the title in six games.

Some of the top performers of the season include..

-Christy Mathewson (SLN) set a new all-time single season record for K/BB ration (8.03!)
-Ed Walsh (DET) recorded the second best single season K/BB ratio ever  (5.94)
-Christy Mathewson (SLN) wins his second MVP and third Cy Young Award
-Wahoo Sam Crawford (DET) is the only batter to top 100 RBIs, leading the league with 102
-Honus Wagner takes his second batting title (.333 average), and leads the league in HRs with 9 while finishing second in RBIs, a near Triple Crown
-Three Finger Brown takes the ERA title (1.91)
-Sam Leever (NYG) leads the league in saves with 35
-Charlie Hemphill (NYG) swipes 51 bases to lead the league in steals
