1906 Season Recap

Boston again wins the regular season, this time with 89 wins, and the St. Louis Cardinals come in second place with 83 wins.  Honus Wagner leads the Red Sox to the title, with a .462/.500/.692 slash line, 6 doubles, 8 RBIs, and 7 runs scored in 6 games!

Bob Ewing had a season for the ages, joining the elite group of Addie Joss, Christy Mathewson, and Rube Waddell as both MVP and Cy Young Award winners.  Ewing came out of nowhere, dominating after three relatively nondescript seasons in the OTBL.

This was the year of the ptcher.  Five of the top six single-season ERA's were achieved in this season!

Some of the top performers of the season include..

-Rube Waddell (NYG) wins his FIFTH straight strikeout tittle, this time with 196 K's
-Honus Wagner (BOA) wins the batting title with a .333 average
-Doc White (BRN) sets an all-time mark for lowest ERA with a sparkling 1.28
-Elmer Flick (BOA) leads the league with 96 RBIs
-Miller Huggins (BOA) swipes 73 bases
-Relief ace Red Patterson (BOA) sets a new mark for saves, with an impressive 43!
